Myopia Focus is delighted to announce the introduction of its educational platform for eye care professionals, the Myopia Focus Practitioner Hub.
The Practitioner Hub is a free platform that offers eye care professionals an opportunity to enhance their knowledge and share their expertise in the field of myopia management. Members gain access to a wealth of exclusive benefits and resources including:
Parent focused marketing awareness materials, posters, and social media templates to help eye care practitioners talk to parents about myopia and myopia management. This will help to raise awareness of the condition and should increase the number of patients engaging in myopia management therapies.
Links and expert opinions on the latest research and reports on myopia
Blogs written by Myopia Focus’ list of contributors and advisory committee members covering topics such as emerging trends, new treatment options, and best practices in myopia management.
Access to exclusive webinars and training videos, much of which will be CPD accredited.
A Discussion Forum to engage with a community of like-minded professionals, share experiences, and exchange ideas in a collaborative environment.
"We are thrilled to introduce the Myopia Focus Practitioner Hub, a platform designed specifically for eye care professionals," said Jason Higginbotham, Managing Editor of Myopia Focus.
“With the Myopia Focus campaign gaining traction amongst parents, it became clear to us that more needs to be done to support training and education for eye care professionals about delivering myopia management care. We want to amplify the reach of the many great resources that already exist but add a particular focus on the commercial aspects of myopia management and how to introduce the topic to parents. We also want to empower practitioners to ensure they meet clinical and legal obligations now and in the future, to protect them and the profession as a whole.”
Richard Kadri-Langford, Head of Marketing at Myopia Focus further commented,
“At this year’s 100% Optical it became clear that, whilst myopia management was a key theme, the number of practitioners actively engaged in treatment was still very low. I was amazed when I discovered that myopia management wasn’t yet part of the educational curriculum delivered by most UK optometry teaching institutions."
“In fact, when Myopia Focus Contributor, The Crazy Optom, Hamza Mussa, asked his network of over 33k Instagram followers if they felt they had enough training at university and during pre-reg, 83% of the 1000 respondents said “No”.
This clearly needs to change as it seems obvious that the two observations are correlated.
Myopia Focus’ goal is therefore to provide a comprehensive resource that supports practitioners in delivering the highest level of care for patients with myopia. By offering a wide range of educational materials, discussion forums, and exclusive webinars, the aim is to empower eye care professionals and foster collaboration within the industry.
Eye care professionals interested in joining the Myopia Focus Practitioner Hub can do so by visiting the website and completing a straightforward registration process. This platform welcomes optometrists, ophthalmologists, and other professionals who are currently providing or have an interest in incorporating myopia management into their practices as well as supporting its mission to raise awareness amongst parents.
