Dates to know: Initiated by the BVHI, Myopia Awareness Week takes place from Monday 19th to Sunday 25th May 2025. The global theme this year is “Screens Down, Eyes Up!” — and at Myopia Focus, we’ll be aligning our content and outreach to support this initiative in practical ways that resonate with both parents and professionals.
As a practitioner, you’ll already know the daily pressures that pull families away from prioritising eye health — especially when symptoms aren’t always obvious or urgent. Awareness Week gives us a moment to reset the conversation. To make myopia a talking point again — not just in clinic, but in homes, schools, and online.

We’re developing a simple 5-day framework aimed at parents — with one small, tangible action per day. We’ll be covering:
Encouraging families to book (and follow through with) eye tests
Highlighting the difference between correction and management
Starting age-appropriate conversations with children about screen habits and outdoor time
Sharing our petition calling for better access to myopia management
Prompting parents to spread the word
We’re not asking for grand campaigns — just real, human conversations.
📥 Want to Get Involved?
Here’s how:
Share our posts or blogs with your patients or local networks
Mention Myopia Awareness Week in your next patient newsletter or social post
Use our parent-facing resources to support conversations around screen time and early intervention
Encourage patients to sign the petition calling for systemic change in how we approach childhood myopia
If you're running any in-practice events or initiatives, let us know — we’d love to highlight practitioners taking a proactive role.
Let’s use this week to build bridges between professional guidance and practical action at home.
